You wouldn’t think that running requires much gear, but forgetting a key item on race day can cause some serious frustrations. This list will make sure that you go to the starting line prepared. You can use my personal checklist when packing and planning for your next 10K, half-marathon, and marathon.
Running Shoes (of course)

- Running shorts
- Running top
- Sports bra
- Socks
- Hat
- Sweat pants and Sweat Tops (for cool mornings and then toss ‘em after you get started)
- Sweat Band
Electronics
- Music player and ear phones
- Heart rate monitor or gps training monitor
- Cell phone
Acessories
- Sunglasses
- Extra shoelaces
- Extra safty pins for your bib number
- Running belt
Medical
- Chapstick
- Joint Supports and Braces
- Kenesio tape
- Kleenex
- Medication
- Sunscreen
Hydration and Nutrition
- Gel Packs or Shot Blocks
- Water Bottles or Water Pack
- Pre race energy/hydration drink
- Extra Bag (if you plan to do some serious shopping at the race expo)
Identification
- Personal ID (if checking in on race day)
- Timing Chip or Strap
- Bib Number
- Paperwork For Check In (if checking in on race day)
